Ria Kaur Panesar (b.2oo1, Southall UK) is an artist working with varying mediums like painting, lino printing, video work and many more. She is interested in uncovering incorrect information on colonialism, specifically in India alongside deconstructing how colonialism has affected recent political outbreaks like the Farmers Protest. Drawing from perspectives within human rights and protest or activism, her work examines how the farmers protest has tied many individuals from speaking up further focusing on police brutality and the human’s rights act being broken but India’s Prime Minister. Ria is a student currently studying at Kingston School of Art, London working on her BA Fine Art degree.
Recent work from the artist, titled 'You should just turn your head away' (2023) delves into topics of misogyny, honour killings and violence against women within the South Indian/ Sikh community.
